Galvanized Steel Exports Hit Record High on Strong Global Demand
China’s galvanized steel exports reached a new monthly record in the latest reporting period, reflecting robust global demand for corrosion-resistant steel products.
Total exports of galvanized products exceeded 800,000 tonnes, with significant shipments to the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The construction boom in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries has been a major driver, as mega-projects continue to require vast quantities of building materials.
Domestic galvanized steel prices have remained firm despite the strong export volumes, as manufacturers balance international orders with local market requirements. The premium for export-grade products has widened slightly, reflecting the additional quality certifications required for overseas markets.
Industry observers note that Chinese galvanized steel has become increasingly competitive on the global stage, not just on price but also on quality and delivery reliability. “Chinese mills have invested heavily in upgrading their galvanizing lines,” said a trade consultant. “The quality gap with Japanese and Korean products has narrowed significantly.”
